The Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023, which has been running since March 20th, is coming to an end today, March 24th. For those who could only attend today, a Friday Expo Pass provided access to the exhibit floor. The conference was held in San Francisco, CA, and has been a fantastic opportunity for game developers, designers, programmers, and artists from around the world to connect and share ideas.
The exhibit floor was a bustling hub of activity and excitement, with hundreds of exhibitors showcasing their latest games, hardware, software, and services. From indie studios to major publishers, the exhibit floor offered a glimpse into the future of the gaming industry, and attendees had the opportunity to try out the latest technologies and games, talk with developers, and exchange ideas.
In addition to the exhibit floor, the conference featured talks, tutorials, and panels covering a wide range of topics, including game design, programming, visual arts, audio, and business and management. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from experts in the field, share ideas, and network with peers from around the world.
One of the highlights of the conference was the keynote address, delivered by Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series and founder of Kojima Productions. Kojima’s talk, titled “The Art of Play,” focused on the importance of play and its impact on human culture, as well as his personal journey as a game developer.
The GDC Awards ceremony, which took place earlier in the week, recognized the best games of the year across several categories. Winners included indie title Hades, which took home the Game of the Year award, as well as titles like Psychonauts 2, Death’s Door, and Forza Horizon 5.
Overall, GDC 2023 has been an incredible opportunity for game developers from all corners of the industry to come together, share knowledge, showcase their work, and connect with their peers. Friday Expo Pass holders were able to take advantage of the final day of the exhibit floor, network with fellow attendees, and learn about the latest trends and technologies in the industry. We look forward to seeing what GDC 2024 has in store!
