The same day Greg Street announced that he would be stepping down from his role as executive producer at Riot Games, former Riot Games executives established a new studio in Los Angeles. The Believer Company has garnered $55M in Series A Funding from Riot Games, Bitkraft Ventures, 1UP Ventures, Don Thompson’s Cleveland Avenue, Michael D, Eisner’s Tornante Company, and other venture partners.
Believer plans on creating an original IP in an open-world game where player choices matter, and a gameplay system that brings players together rather than pushing them apart.
The current studio’s leadship team includes:
- Juno Blees as Associate Game Director – Former Senior Game Producer at Riot Games
- Julien Bouvrais as Vice President of R&D Tech – Former Lead Programmer at Ubisoft & Former CTO at Eidos-Montréal
- Michael Chow as CEO – Former Vice President & Executive Producer at Riot Games
- Shankar Gupta-Harrison as CMO – Former Senior Publishing Advisor at Riot Games
- Tim Hsu as COO – Former Director Strategic Advisory at Riot Games on Wild Rift
- Jeff Jew as Vice President of Design – Former Executive Producer at Riot Games on Legends of Runeterra
- Landon Mcdowell as CTO – Former Head of Technical Operations at Riot Games on Wild Rift
- Grace Park as Director of Operations – Former Senior Product Manager at Riot Games
- Steven Snow as CPO – Former Executive Producer at Riot Games
- Jeremy Vanhoozer as CCO – Former Franchise Creative Director at Electronic Arts (EA) & Former Head of Art at Bungie
The company seems to have a vision and is getting ready to develop its original IP. And according to their job posting, it is very remote work friendly.
Author’s Note: I highly speculate that Greg Street will be joining the Believer Company for the convenience it provides to its employees.
