Tarisland, a new MMORPG by Chinese game company Tencent, is set to launch globally in the coming months after being created to fill the void left by the closure of World of Warcraft in China earlier this year. The game is a direct clone of World of Warcraft, with similar stylized visuals and about 75% of the same class lineup, promising to offer a familiar experience to WoW players.
Tarisland features dragon-riding, and in a move that is sure to please players tired of pay-to-win games, the developers have promised that the game will be free of pay-to-win elements. The game will also include cross-platform play, allowing players on different devices to play together.
Tencent has created a website for Tarisland, which includes a sign-up form for the beta test. Although there is no confirmed date for the beta, the company has stated that it plans to conduct several playtests of gradually increasing scale and duration, in order to gather feedback from players and refine the game.
In a statement on the Tarisland website, the development team expressed their enthusiasm for players to experience a “fair and classic cross-platform MMORPG” that will be free of pay-to-win elements. The team has promised to build a “persistent and exciting world” that players can immerse themselves in, and to conduct regular tests to gather player feedback and improve the game.
